The Xulokopos studio is first and foremost two people who are passionate about wood and marquetry. With her companion Jean-Emmanuel Riard – originally a carpenter – Christina von Mohrenschildt cut her first pieces of veneer in 1995. Less than 10 years later (March 2004) she was awarded one of the “Best Craftsmen of France” (Meilleurs ouvriers de France) prizes.
The Xulokopos studio's approach to marquetry in full of nuance and finesse; the depiction of each finished piece is due exclusively to the choice of wood type and how it is cut. This approach is used to create very varied picture styles: landscapes, portraits, non-figurative pieces.
The Xulokopos studio is also about beautiful cabinet-making – take a look at the gallery pages – and above all about artistic freedom and a desire to share this passion.
Finally, the studio organises workshops for trainees and invites certain marquetarians to hold temporary exhibitions in the display area at Carennac (46) in the south-west of France.
